Be your best “you.” You are looking for a job. It is a long time since dealing with the trappings of the job search process and the uncertainty of where, when, what and how a job offer will come. This begins a review of “must do” behaviors to be mastered in the interview process.

Focus on doing well the elements of a job search process that you can control, because there are many things a job candidate cannot control. The candidate has no control over whom, how and when interviews are conducted, what questions will be asked, or obviously, control over who gets the job. But there are a number of other things that a candidate does have control over from your Professional resumes to your job interview You should never lose a job offer because of something that was within your purview to make happen. Examples include:

• Be early for interviews. Anything short of a natural disaster sounds like merely an excuse for being late – and there are no excuses. Think through travel and traffic requirements and take necessary action to mitigate potential issues.
• Learn name of interviewer. Smile, look them in the eye, and be sure to greet everyone you meet with a firm handshake. Think in terms of conveying engaging and confident.
• Use good manners. Remember, this applies to everyone a candidate comes in contact with. Whether at the reception desk, in the hallway, the parking garage, your conduct should be the same as with those you interview with.
• Relax and answer each question concisely. Noticeable nervousness and/or rambling answers are a distraction. Study relaxation techniques used by public speakers to control nerves (e.g., long, deep breaths, etc.).
• Use proper English. Avoid slang, speak clearly, and focus on connecting and communicating.
• Be cooperative and enthusiastic. Go with the flow, do not pick arguments, and remember to smile appropriately and often.
• Show interest with body language. Use eye contact, sit-up straight, have good posture and display body language that is open and engaging.
• Ask questions about position and organization. Avoid questions whose answers are easily found on company Web site or published in the annual report.
• Avoid asking about pay in initial interview. Compensation and rewards are very important, but it is generally better to defer asking about compensation until latter stages of the interview process. Unless brought up by the employer, asking pay questions too early can appear to be self-centered on part of candidate.
• Thank the interviewer. Say thanks when you leave, remember the firm handshake, send a short thank you note.

Watch for articles regarding other behaviors for a successful interview, including: cleaning-up; treating everyone as a potential interviewer; keeping cool; beware of small talk; the value in the details; doing your homework; and remembering to smile.

Doing these behaviors will help you get an edge over the competition and achieve successful interview results. Best wishes for a profitable job search and winning interviews in your future.

In the Gulf region, almost all countries are making growth at a rapid space. Of all the countries, Saudi Arabia deserves a special mention because the country has witnessed phenomenal growth in the last few years. The oil reserves of the country make it a rich nation. Now, it is seeing growth in all other sectors as well. With the diversification and growth in various sectors, the demand for skilled manpower has also grown in various sectors in the country. Since the locals cannot suffice to fill all positions for all kinds of skills, the foreign workforce is welcomed into the country. There are ample jobs in Saudi Arabia such as oil and gas jobs, construction jobs, petrochemical jobs, IT jobs, education jobs, hospitality v, and automobile jobs. Also, the multi-billion dollar King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC), coming up at Rabigh, near Jeddah, has become the main driving factor for jobs in the gulf region.

Though there is a drive to hire Saudi nationals first, the foreign workforce is equally welcome in the country. There are two main reasons for this. Firstly, there are certain skills that are not developed in the locals and they cannot fill posts requiring those skills. Thus, skilled and trained manpower is required to fill posts requiring specific skill sets. Secondly, for a few posts, the expatriate workforce can be hired cheaper than the locals. One reason why Indians are so welcomed in Saudi Arabia is that qualified and trained Indians can be hired at salaries much lower than those in the West. Also, there is an advantage for jobseekers who knows Arabic and are versed with the culture of the place. There are many jobs that require essential knowledge of Arabic besides English. Some expatriates also take up lessons in basic Arabic after joining a job in Saudi Arabia.

Talking about sectors, oil and gas has been the mainstay of the economy in Saudi Arabia for years. Other than that, there has been huge development in the real estate industry. This sector is going by leaps and bounds. There are many international investor firms that are pumping in money in the real estate sector in Saudi Arabia. Consequently, the sector has grown and the real estate jobs in Saudi Arabia have also increased. Since the population in the region is growing very fast, the demand for residential complexes has also grown. Also, the need for office and commercial space has also increased. Seizing the opportunity, many real estate companies are working in the region building residential complexes, offices and commercial spaces. Thus, there is need for civil engineers, architects, skilled electricians and plumbers and construction workers. Most of these are foreign workforce that is hired on a contractual basis.

Coming to the hospitality sector, Saudi Arabia witnesses a lot of religious tourism. It is the main religious hub of Islam. There is a need of hotels and appropriate accommodation to cater to these tourists. With the expansion of the economy, business travel to the Kingdom has also increased. Keeping in view these points, the hotel industry and the aviation industry has also seen a boom in Saudi Arabia. Qualified hotel staff and aviation staff are hired for various positions. Thus, professionals in the hospitality industry stand a good chance of getting hired in Saudi Arabia for various roles.

The other sectors in Saudi Arabia that hire foreign workforce include the automobile sector and the oil and gas sector. These sectors have ample job opportunities for trained foreign workforce. The banking and IT industries also hire foreign nationals with the right qualifications and skill sets. Hence, for those aspiring to high-paying jobs in the Gulf, Saudi Arabia is an attractive career destination. It really helps if you go with a reference and are recommended by somebody. To apply to jobs in Saudi Arabia, you can look for vacancies in the newspapers, job portals through recruitment agencies. When you take up a job offer in Saudi Arabia, it would be advisable to research the culture in the country and the company credentials beforehand. The culture in the country is a little conservative and it might take a while adjusting to the lifestyle. However, the high salaries offered with the jobs are the main attraction that pull expatriates in large numbers to the country.

Working in an office is different to other jobs, because the environment is a lot more insular than most others. It can be difficult to thrive in this atmosphere if you are not adequately prepared, and when you’re applying for a job in this sector you need to take care to look over the job description carefully and make sure you know what you’re applying for.

You will find a lot of the time you are working on your own, with your own deadlines. It will be your responsibility to manage your working day and make sure you complete everything you are supposed to. You need to have very good organisation skills, because if you don’t you will very quickly fall apart. You need to be able to motivate yourself. Sometimes you will be working daily with customers, and you will need to be able communicate well with them, especially customers who you speak to several times a week.

There is no one reason that can define why people quit jobs. It could be triggered by a career growth plan, a bad boss, a strenuous environment at work, relocation or a personal reason. This list can never be exhaustive. However, at times, how you quit is more important than why you quit. A resignation or leaving a company does not have to be a bitter experience on both sides. You can make the separation amicable or at least decent by resigning gracefully. The way you handle your resignation says a lot about you and sometimes, it even defines your options in the long-term. Your conduct in the professional life can come back to haunt you at any time later too. So be very particular about how you say ‘I quit’.

Once you have decided to resign from your job, you need to devise a way of doing it. You cannot just go and announce it loudly to your boss and walk out. Keep the decision to yourself and make sure people are not talking about it in the office before you have informed your boss. Resign in person and not over an SMS or phone or even e-mail. That’s how cowards resign. Seek time with your boss and talk to him or her in person. The most professional etiquette says that you face your boss and have a talk. Go prepared with a written resignation letter and hand it over to your manager. Your manager would want to know the reasons that led to this decision of yours. Be polite, honest and diplomatic. Even if you have had a bad relationship with the boss and that is the main reason why you are quitting, you cannot say it point blank on the face. Say that you want to explore better opportunities outside the company and that you have made your mind to move on. While discussing your resignation, don’t reveal too much about your new employer. Be firm but tactful. If salary is the main reason, say that you are getting a better offer monetarily and in terms of career growth. Your boss might make a counter offer. Other than this, you also need to decide upon your last date at work mutually.

Give your company appropriate time to find your replacement and offer to train the new hire while you are still around. Don’t leave without an appropriate notice period and never leave your previous employer in a lurch. Make all efforts to ensure that a smooth transition happens and there is no hassle in handing over work. In case, your employer is unable to find a replacement for you before you leave, do some work in advance for them. This will prove your sincerity and help you in future if you ever wish to return for employment to the same company.

The most important thing is that you don’t burn bridges behind you when you decide to quit. It is a small world and you never know when a bad professional relationship comes back to spoil your future career growth. Don’t bad mouth your boss among your co-workers because such loose talk travels fast. Remain calm and professional throughout your notice period. Don’t create a dramatic event out of your resignation. When you inform your co-workers also, make sure you do it in a professional manner and not as a way to score even with the company. You might need future references from the same company so ensure that you are creating a positive image of yourself.

Plumbers are very much in demand, since each and every building, residential or otherwise, requires plumbing. There is a shortage of proficient plumbers; hence they are well paid too. Therefore, this is the best option one can go for these days. This possibly is one of the biggest reasons why plumbing courses are gaining popularity. There are two types of training a person aspiring to be a plumber can undergo. One can join a classroom-based plumbing course or one can opt for online training. One need never be without work and there is no danger of being laid-off due to adverse economic conditions. Each and every building needs pipes to be laid and maintained. A plumber will always be in demand.

There are a number of trade schools in UK or in other parts of the world where plumbing courses are taught. There are courses offered both online as well as in proper classrooms. Since plumbing is an essential job, it is highly paid. You may feel that the fee structure is too high, and may hesitate to pay it. If this is the case, you need to do a re-think. The average pay structure of a middle-level pipe layer in the U.S. was $13.68 per hour in the year 2004 – the last time a study was done on it. Actually the lowest level of plumbers, the ones that are on the verge of starting their careers after graduating from their plumbing course were being paid between $9.19 per hour at a standard rate and this goes up to more than $25.07 per hour now since wages are rising.

Therefore, a course in plumbing might be your pathway to pecuniary and professional success. As the career growth of plumbers is gaining attention, attempts are being made to get these courses within the reach of all and sundry. As everywhere, the Internet is playing a vital role in accomplishing this aim. Since the use of the Internet is so extensive, not only young people, older people are becoming aware of the existence of these courses, too. People from all age groups are enquiring about and joining these plumbing courses. Another reason for joining online courses in plumbing is that due to the success of other online courses, these courses are gaining more and more credibility. It also helps the credibility of these courses that most of them are affiliated with known bodies and many even carry a national endorsement.

These courses start with the regular Plumbing know-how 101 which is the essential training that every plumber ought to have and includes training on basic plumbing tasks such as fitting pipes and soldering, which basically imparts know-how about the kind of tools that are required by professional plumbers. The courses then teach the trainees about more complex plumbing methods and acquaint them with the health vulnerability inherent in this line of work and methods to protect themselves. There are no prerequisites for registering in any of the courses in terms of the plumbing experience, they will be taught each and everything they need to know during these classes.

Depressed about your job? A sound career education review can tell you it is not your work. Career education proverb says that you have to select to do the best that you are able to with what you own where you are. Thus, short of locating another work, what can you do?
1. Begin to see the large picture. Many people want to tell us what we need to be. But we should decide ourselves what we would like to be. Thus, require yourself, “What is it I am doing? How vital is this? How does this fit into the large picture?”
Recognizing you are a part of a larger machine and you are vital to the function of that machine may give you a sense of self-esteem.
2. Concentrate on other people. In case you are concerned about yourself as well as your bad feelings only, you intensify the negative. In case you can assist other people this puts your case in perspective.
For instance, volunteer to assist a co-worker to end a large project. Or demonstrate someone how you can use a certain skill that you have acquired.
3. Forget and laugh. You should let go the wrongs, imaginary or real, that someone committed to you several weeks ago. It is not worth keeping on to. When you relive this over and over, then you are beating yourself up, but not the other party.
While you forget the past, then you embrace the present. It includes learning to laugh. In fact, laughter releases the stress in you and lets you forget and do your job well.

Choosing a career within the painting and decorating industry can be quite a varied one. You will most likely work on various different types of jobs. Such as the standard re-decorating of domestic houses to applying heavy-duty paint to grand buildings such as mansions and office buildings. You may also be contracted and work painting a whole complex of brand new houses. The work is often quite demanding and you will need to be reasonably physically fit. You should also have a good head for heights too as much of the work involves moving up and down ladders to reach ceilings for example.

Job prospects are good for painters and decorators, as buildings continue to be built there will always be the need for painters. More are more painters and decorators are expected to be required over the next few years mainly due to all the new housing required as the countries population expands. As a painter decorator you will most likely work for a large range of organisations and companies, these can include hospitals, office building, housing contractors, special paint contractors and even some local authorities. There are also companies who specialise in specific techniques like heavy-duty industrial painting or Artexing that is a type of painting that allows a painter decorator to apply a texture to it. This is most commonly found on ceilings.

As you progress with your painting and decorating career you can move into higher positions like becoming a supervisor or providing estimates for clients and even the management of contracts. You could also train and become qualified within the sector of restoration. With this you could work in perhaps much older and grander homes. Like mansions and stately homes. Another route you could choose is to become a self-employed painter decorator. You could hire a small number of employees and start up on your own.

You could then be hired by private domestic projects or even larger companies who you could be contracted to.
There are no formal qualifications required to become a painter however there are courses that will give you a qualification that will always be sought after by employers. Just to prove you know what you’re doing.

Experience is very important in your painting career the more you have the better. You could start up a portfolio of all the projects you have worked on which will show your abilities as a painter decorator to prospective employers. Sometimes employers will also offer you the chance to learn whilst you are working and maybe employ you on an apprenticeship scheme.

Personal trainers are individuals who are trained and employed to help other people train and maintain their physical health through fitness and diet programs. Due to the sensitive nature of what they do, and given that it involves health, self esteem and condition of clients, competence is probably the most important element that a person needs to become a good personal trainer. Competence basically is the ability and skill to perform the basic function of personal training, that is keeping someone else fit and healthy.

Personal trainers work with different people and therefore their field has its element of diversity depending on the kind of physical training they get to do, although at the end of the day their work involves working either with an individual or group of individuals. To remain competent, physical trainers need to have certain qualities in order to achieve and maintain a high competence level. The three most important of these qualities are:

Motivation
A personal trainer’s greatest attribute is his ability to motivate his trainees. Physical fitness is not an easy task and a client’s level of motivation is rarely enough to push him/her through the really tough times of the training routine. It takes a personal trainer great skill and patience to motivate, and there are two main ways to do this. One is to make sure the clients push themselves to the limit during their workouts, and two is having a trainer roll up his sleeves and show the trainees how to do the training routines well. As long as a client can see his personal trainer doing it, he/she believes they can do it too.

Technique
Competent Personal trainers have certain techniques, routines and postures that are effective, simple, and measurable and show quick and positive results. This is what they present to the client before training begins and are therefore, which inspires confidence and trust.

Diet plans
Once a good personal trainer has a diet plan that fully complements his training schedule, there is affective progress that is made by the client and this will show a great level of competence by personal trainer.

There are, of course, other qualities that combine well to make an effective and competent personal trainer, like professionalism and good customer relations.
